Investment Possibilities in Riga
In order to simplify access to the information about the development and investment projects of international institutions and the Riga City Council, we offer the visitors of our home page direct links to several internet portals and their sections.
The task of the portal http://www.rigasprojekti.lv/ is to acquaint you with all the interested persons with the most topical information about the tenders of the European Union’s projects and international projects, in which the Riga City Council and its structural units are participating. The most complete information about these projects is offered by the section „News of the Riga City Council’s international projects”.
The users of the portal have a possibility to get acquainted with On-line information from Latvian intermediary institutions (the Public Integration Fund and Professional Education Development Agency). This section automatically receives all the information, which is published on the intermediary institution’s home pages, it means - all topicalities about the opened project tenders in Latvia. The publicly available project ideas can be seen in the section Project Management System, as well as the project coordinators registered in the Project Management System have access to the Riga’s region projects data base.
The information in this EU program and funds data base is regularly updated, as soon as the information is received from intermediary institutions and program/funds coordinating units. The information for the portal is prepared and regularly updated by the Riga City Council’s City Development Department’s Economics Board’s International projects division.
The portal http://www.investinbaltics.net/ provides wide information on the project “The joint project of Baltic metropolis for development and use of a coordinated investment management approach in the Baltic Sea region”, which is partly financed by the European Community’s Initiative program INTERREG IIIB and as co-financers also involving four project partners – the Riga City Council, Vilnius municipality, Tallinn City Council and the Baltic International Economic Policy Study Centre (BICEPS). The project is connected both with the development of strategy, which would improve the investment management processes and cooperation between the different interested parties whose cooperative relationship is material for the enforcement of project targets, as well as would broaden the availability of information, which will ensure enforcement of the developed conception.
However the task of the portal of Small and Medium Companies’ Forum http://www.mvu.lv/ is to ensure the Latvian small and medium companies (SMC) with the information, which is connected with their development in the framework of the European Union’s expansion. The portal includes a data base of Latvian SMC, as well as SMC partners’ searching possibilities on-line. The target public of the portal is the Latvian SMCs and their partners. The establishment of the portal was suggested by the Riga City Council and its partners within the ES Phare CBC SPF project “On-line support in SMC Baltic Sea region – Virtual Partnership”.
The portal http://www.connectlatvia.lv/ is offered by the society CONNECT Latvia whose target is to promote the establishment of new, knowledge-based companies and their development, as well as support realization of innovative projects in business, thus promoting the creation of new and well-paid employment places in knowledge-spacious areas. By organizing different events, CONNECT helps entrepreneurs to receive the necessary assistance for the enforcement of a business plan. The task of CONNECT is to help to introduce new technologies in production by linking scientific research with production. CONNECT is like a bridge to connect two different worlds – the industrial and the academic one, as well as attract the necessary resources (strategic partners, investments) for the realization of effective cooperation, which would result in the appearance of new products in the Latvian economy with a high added value.
A broad range of construction projects is offered by the information business centre „New Projects” portal http://www.jaunieprojekti.lv, which considers its mission to be ensuring fast access to the most complete and objective information about the new projects market. The portal offers a wide data base of new projects, topical information about the new projects’ market offer, provides a monthly analysis of the real estate market, as well as information about loan possibilities.
