The Quality Management System of the City Development Department Has Repeatedly Received the ISO Certificate
On 17 November 2006, the Quality Management System of the City Development Department (hereinafter – the Department) received the international LVS EN ISO 9001:2000 standard certificate. The Department is one of the first institutions of Riga City Council to receive this prestigious acknowledgement of high quality management and client service.
The Department has elaborated and regularly improves the Quality Policy, the Quality Management Manual and the regulating documents for client satisfaction research, ensuring the competency of employees, identifying and eliminating discrepancies. In conformity with requirements of the aforementioned documents, the necessary improvements in management have been performed at the Department, including all of its structural units:
- Administrative Department,
- Urban Planning Board,
- Board of Economics,
- Project Management and Development Directorate.
The regular recertification international audit of the Quality Management System took place in April 2009 after Department reorganisation. It was performed by the leader in the field of certification services in the world – SIA Bureau Veritas Latvia – and it confirmed that the Quality Management System improved at the Department is authorised to receive the international LVS EN ISO 9001:2000 standard certificate for the next three years in the following fields:
- Elaboration and control of the Riga city territory planning and detailed planning;
- Determining the land usage and construction procedure;
- Coordination of elaboration and implementation of investment projects;
- Providing services to residents;
- Maintenance of information systems and databases;
- Administering the support processes.
This achievement is the result of joint work of the Riga City Council City Development Department employees. It confirms that the institution has been efficiently operating to develop, support and continuously improve the quality management system.
The Department employees and administration are aware that the basis for any organisation development is ensuring the highest quality services in conformity with the increasing requirements of the clients. The received ISO certificate confirms fulfilment of major requirements of the international standard and determines further continuous improvement of the Department operation.
